UIL stands for University Interscholastic League (UIL) that provides quality educational competitions administered by the district/ school people. The UIL A+ Academics program is an academic competition for elementary, middle school and junior high. It includes 17 different events for grades 1-8. These events span the curriculum – they are designed to complement and expand upon what students learn in the classroom, both through learning specific subject knowledge, and through learning skills that are valuable in many disciplines. Approximately 3,000 Texas schools participate in A+ Academics, competing in more than 300 district meets each year.
MCILMS is planning to send in a team to UIL competitions this year. Please let us know if you want your child to participate.

Today your kiddos will have a flyer in their communications folder with info regarding our 1st China trip! If interested in traveling please fill out and return by Monday. If you have any questions please feel free to post here and we can start a forum. I’ve also attached the flyer, itinerary/pricing (kids will pay 90% of price, under 2 will pay 75% of price), the visa application which the agency will do(or you can do for a cheaper rate), and the credit card authorization form(payment will be due 30 days prior to traveling if using credit). I will also attend the PTO meeting on 9/11 and answer questions there as well. The administration has been instrumental in giving valued information to make this trip a kid friendly knowledge based trip which will enhance our Mandarin immersion experience here at MCLIMS. Hope to see you there!
